Citizen Altichron

The Citizen Altichron is here and it's one of the best Citizen watches to come along in quite some time.  Citizen continues to produce highly technical watches that work fluidly and intuitively.  It an impressive ability and I give a lot of credit to the Citizen engineers.  It's one thing to make a watch with a lot of technical features like digital compass and altimeter but it's something else entirely to make it easy to use.  But that is exactly what Citizen has managed to do and it's the first thing that stood out to me when I first held the watch in my hands.

The two main technical features of this watch are the Electronic Compass and Altimeter and each is as easy to use as the other.  One of the first things you'll notice is the two color coded buttons on the left side of the case.  One is orange and one is neon yellow.  Then on the face of the watch you will also notice two additional hands.  Once again, one is orange and one is neon yellow.  This is not a coincidence.  Each button corresponds with it's matching hands and automatically launches it's touted feature into action.

Pressing the orange button sends the watch into Compass Mode.  No fiddling required.  Press the orange button and the orange hand starts up and finds true north.  Simple, easy and fast.  No changing modes, no set-up, no fuss.  Just press and go.  Frankly, it's very impressive and intuitive to use.  The big large buttons also mean they are easy to use even if you are wearing gloves or other outdoor equipment.  This is truly a watch you could take into the field and use every day.  And once you are done simply press the orange button again and it goes back to normal.

So, how about the yellow button?  You guessed it.  It operates the other main function, the Altimeter.  And just like the Compass, it's every bit as easy and intuitive to use.  This time by pushing the yellow button, the watch's Altimeter function comes to life and once again does so without any complications.  One press of the button sets the yellow hand in motion and comes to rest on the current elevation displayed by the yellow numbers on the dial.  Simple, easy and efficient.

The watch also features Citizen's now famous light powered technology (Eco-Drive) and come in a variety of light-weight Titanium cases.  Model BN5030-06E is solid Titanium in the standard finish (pictured in the top image) and Model BN5035-02F has a black IP finish.  Both models come standard with a Rubber Strap.  No metal bracelet is available at this time.  Each watch is also 200 Meter Water Resistant and comes with a Power Reserve Indicator on the dial.

Retail pricing starts at $850 for the standard Titanium model and $995 for the Black IP model.  Sale prices are much lower and right now we have a special Summer Citizen Sale going on to make these deals even better!  Simply visit us at one of our sites and enter the Code: Citizen10 to get an additional 10% off the sale price.

This watch is available at both Gem of the Day and TopFlight Watches and the code is good at both sites as well.  As always, you can call us Toll Free at 1-888-243-6329 with any questions, comments or just to talk watches.  Our watch experts are available to answer any question you may have.  We'd love to hear from you.

Luminox Tony Kanaan Limited Edition Chronograph

The 2013 special Limited Edition of the Tony Kanaan Racing Chronograph was designed for and by champion Indy Car race driver, Tony Kanaan. It's cutting-edge design concept showcases an asymmetrical 3-layer case highlighted with Tony's own racing colors and a racing stripe style genuine leather strap.  It's a beautiful watch that really needs to be seen in order to appreciate it.  The level of detail is superb.  Everything from the push buttons to the carbon fiber inserts on the side of the watch are finished in the finest detail.  This watch is breath taking from every angle and very limited.  More so with Tony Kanaan winning the Indy 500 this year.  Collectors and fans alike are all trying to get a hold of this amazing timepiece and supplies are running low.  Fortunately we do have a few of this fantastic watch still in stock and ready to ship.  Normally I don't do blog entries to promote limited editing watch since they sell out so quickly but every once in a while a watch is so cool it deserves the extra attention.  This is one of those times.

For those of you into specs and features, we have compiled a list of the key features below:

  • Limited edition to 999 pieces worldwide
  • Ronda 5050.B Swiss quartz movement
  • White dial with black, yellow and green accents
  • 316L stainless steel black PVD case with carbon fiber inlay on sides
  • Double date display at the 6 o'clock position
  • Tony Kanaan logo at the 4 o'clock position
  • Fix black ceramic bezel
  • Screwed case-back
  • Double-security gasket crown
  • Sapphire glass crystal with anti-reflective coating
  • Genuine black leather strap with white stripes & black stitching, security buckle
  • TRITIUM GAS TUBE Illumination - Hour and Minute Hands and all Hour Markers
  • Water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet)
DIMENSIONS:

  • Diameter: 44 mm (with Setting Crown 47 mm)
  • Depth (Thickness): 13 mm
Little things bring the Tony Kanaan Racing Chronograph (Luminox model 1146) to a level above the other watches offered currently on the market.  The ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, carbon fiber inserts and yellow and green tritium tubes all come together to make something special.  The custom fitted leather strap and dial work together to make one integrated design carried throughout the watch and the asymetrical case sets everything off with just the right angles.

But honestly, talking about this watch and looking at pictures is not enough.  It really is one of those watches that has to be seen to be appreciated.  Pictures just don't do it justice.  If you are interested, give us a call TOLL FREE at 1-888-243-6329 to check availability and pricing.  We could sell out at any moment so call first if you can.  You can also order online from us here.  (Gem of the Day is an Authorized Luminox Dealer, selling only brand new, factory fresh Luminox watches.)

Tutima Grand Classic Black Chronograph PR

Tutima Grand Classic Black Chronograph PR

The new Tutima Grand Classic Black Chronograph Power Reserve with the Red Dial is one of the most dramatic timepieces ever created. It will be noticed immediately and will set you apart with its stunning design. It is one of the most handsome watches we've ever offered from any designer or manufacturer. A watch this extraordinary can only come from the designers of Tutima in Glashette, Germany.

The exhibition Back of the 781 Series of Grand Classic Chronographs The new Grand Classic Black Chronograph PR can cope with anything that comes its way, thanks to the use of cutting-edge technology. The case and bracelet have a black coating which is largely resistant to shocks and scratches using a unique process designed by Tutima's German engineers. To begin with, the stainless steel itself undergoes a special process to harden it far below the surface layer. It is then given a coating of ultra-hard PVD coating (physical vapor deposition) in midnight black as extra protection.

The dial is also painstakingly designed to provide a clarity of the instrumentation including a rare power reserve display designed to make this chronograph the perfect companion for turbulent times. The Power Reserve instantly shown the remaining power stored in the mainspring. If the power reserve should start to dwindle, all it takes is a few shakes of the wrist and the Automatic Swiss selfwinding Valjoux 7750 movement produces new energy.

Gem of the Day is pleased to offer this and many other Tutima Grand Classic models. Call us TOLL FREE at 1 (888) 243-6329 to discuss our very competitive prices and all the options in the extensive Grand Classic Collection.

Citizen World Perpetual AT

Ok, now I have to admit that we are a little excited about this one. The Watch Guys are truly pleased to present the newest Citizen Atomic Timekeeping model, the World Perpetual AT. Now as you may know Citizen has been making Eco-Drive watches with their 'AT' (atomic time) feature for a few years now. It all started with the Skyhawk AT and blossomed from there. To the point now were several series offer this truly wonderful feature. In fact, combined with the Eco-Drive feature it makes for one of the best watches available today. I mean come on... no battery to replace, no need to adjust the time and no need to adjust the date! Can it get any better? Well, in fact it can and it has with the all new World Perpetual AT.

First off is the overall design. It is much simpler than the other watches Citizen is designing with the same technology. The World Perpetual has the general appearance of a standard 3-hand watch. No overly complicated sub-dials, no e6b slide-rule nonsense, just a clean sleek and professional looking watch but still packed with the best features. We are talking World Time with 26 different cities pre-programmed, Eco-Drive, Perpetual Calendar, 200 Meter Water Resistance, Atomic Timekeeping, Solid Stainless Steel or Titanium cases and perhaps one of the best features rarely found on a Citizen watch... a Genuine Sapphire Crystal. That's right, you can't even get that on the flagship Skyhawk model.

So it looks good and also redefines atomic timekeeping with radio controlled accuracy in the USA, Europe, Japan and China where radio signals are received both automatically and on demand. You never have to change a battery or set the time ever again, even for DST (daylight savings time)! The watch will actually set itself. Wake up the next morning to find your watch has already adjusted the time properly. You really can't ask for more.

This particular version is available in two varieties, Stainless Steel or Titanium (CB0020-50E and CB0030-56E respectively). Unfortunately, Citizen has a "no internet" sale policy on this watch so you can't buy it from one of our websites. Fortunately, you can call us up and order it directly over the phone. So for more information and to order one for yourself please call us Toll Free at 1-888-243-6329.

Saving money, but at what cost?

Still looking for the best deals? Of course you are. We all are. The economy is still uncertain and people are still very aware of every penny they spend. Everyone is looking to get the best deals on each item they buy. Nothing wrong with that. It's just good business. Why pay more for the same item? There really is no good reason, as long as you buy from the right places. You see the Internet is a wonderful medium. It connects us with the entire world, which is wonderful, but it also has it's down side. You see, not everybody is good and honest.

Sure, for the most part you can easily spot the really bad guys but what about the guys that live in the gray area? When it come to watches and watch dealers, the internet has more "gray market" dealers than honest Authorized dealers. So what exactly is a "gray market" dealer and how does it effect you?

A "gray market" dealer is a company that sell the popular brands but does not buy directly from the manufacturer. They get their products from a 3rd party. This is troubling for a lot of reasons. First off, there is no way to guarantee the quality of the product. Because it comes from a 3rd party, there is no telling where it really came from. It could be a referb, used, repaired or even defective watch and because it did not come directly from the manufacturer you often get no warranty. And you really can't blame the manufacturer. I mean they don't know where that watch has been or the condition in which it was sold.

So even if the watch seems to be new and in good condition, you still have no warranty if something goes wrong (and usually nobody tells you that when you buy it). You just assumed you got a really good deal and only find out the bad news when you try to get service. It is not an ideal situation and worse, most customers don't know until it's too late. Well fortunately I am here to help. I can tell you how to find the good deals and buy from the right places.

(Look for authorized badges like these)

The first thing you need to do is identify the good guys. It's not too hard to do. Sometime it's as easy as looking for a "Dealer Badge" and sometimes you have to look a little deeper. The "Dealer Badge" is by far the best tool for finding the good guys. If you see a badge you are usually good to go and most of them are clickable. They will take you directly to the manufacturer's website, to a verification page, which will confirm the websites authorized dealer status. Unfortunately, not every watch manufacturer uses a badge system. So, if no badge is present (or available) the best thing is check out the dealer directly with the manufacturer. Give them a call or go to their website. Every manufacturer has a dealer listing and if you take a few minutes to check out who you are buying from, you can save yourself a lot of heartache down the road. It might be a bit of a hassle but it's worth it in the long run.

Once you find a good reputable dealer, you are good to go. Check out the Clearance page and go wild. Don't see what you want from the Clearence page? Then give them a call. Most every dealer is ready to make a deal. Give them a call and let them know exactly what you are looking for. Most of the time you will get good personal service, a competitive price and a full manufacturers warranty. It's Win, Win, Win. Buy with confidence knowing you got a good deal from an honest well established dealer.

As you can see, the watches and hands and numerals are all black. The dial is a very dark gray (nearly black) and only the Tritium Gas Tubes provide a hint of the time during daylight hours.

At night, it's an entirely different story, as the Tritium Gas Tubes glow brightly for easy time visibility (Blue Tritium Illumination). The Blackout is a most unusual watch. The Luminox Blackout is handsome, rugged and mysterious

Let's Make a Deal...

Good watch deals are out there and we know you're out there looking for them. Now more than ever people are really taking the time to search for the best deal they can get. And why not? People love to save money and there is a certain satisfaction that comes with finding a great bargain. It's that natural instinct to "win" and the feeling that comes with success. It's part of the reason sites like eBay are so popular, But when it comes right down to it, shopping for a deal can be a hassle. You have to spend a lot of time searching and half of the time you don't even know who you're buying from. Is this person an Authorized Dealer? Will I get a warranty? And what happens if I don't like it? Am I stuck with it just because I got a good deal? This can all be a little scary.

Fortunately, there is a solution... Good deals from good people. That's right, you can get a great deal on a watch and never worry about the hassle. How? Simply be visiting the good folks at Gem of the Day. Sure, you may already be aware of their every day low prices, low price guarantee, and the best return policy in the business but did you know about the newly redesigned Clearance Section? No? Well, stop what you're doing and head over there to check it out. Seriously, stop what you're doing... Why are you still reading? I'll wait...

.
..
...
....
.....

Are you back yet? Good. Well as you can see, they have an ever growing selection of great deals. All kinds of brands and styles and you never know what is going to pop up next. Plus the real kicker is that the prices keep going down until the watches are sold out. Think the deals are good today? Check back tomorrow and watch the prices fall. Of course if you wait too long the watch will be gone for good so you have to act quickly if you see a watch you really like. All of the items on that page are very limited so I recommend you keep a watchful eye. Many of them come and go in a single day.

And if that wasn't good enough, one of the best parts is that you're buying from Gem of the Day. That means you get all of the benefits that they offer. They are Authorized Dealers for every watch they sell so everything comes with the FULL Manufactures Warranty. No more guessing, With Gem of the Day it's guaranteed. Plus, you get the same industry leading 30-Day No Hassle Return, even if you wear the watch!!! That's right, you can get a great deal and try it out for yourself. Keep it 30-Days and still return it if you are not 100% satisfied. You just can't beat a deal like that. So go ahead and check it out for yourself. No really... go.
