The P68 Pathfinder Has Arrived!
Traser is a very Swiss and very European oriented watch designer and manufacturer. They promoted the grand unveiling of their new top-of-the-line flagship watch, the Swiss P68 Pathfinder Automatic aggressively in Europe. Our previous blog post has the teaser video that never really showed the watch but gave hints to its functions and appearance. The "Grand Reveal" date was yesterday, September 29, 2017.
Traser elected not to pre-distribute the watches to dealers here in America for fear one of them might post pictures or, even worse, sell a watch before the reveal date. Traser is great company, but they lack the iron clad control over their dealers that Apple has. The watches have now been shipped to the U.S. and will be available here for sale in the next few days.
With each new release Traser has shown both its ability and its willingness to take on the premier Swiss manufacturers like Ball Watch and Luminox. Their watch equal and, in our opinion, often exceed the more well known prestige brands. Traser does have an advantage. They are the world's only manufacturer of Tritium Gas Tube Illumination. Others must buy the tubes from Traser. And Traser keeps the newest technology for themselves for a year or more.
The P68 Pathfinder is a Swiss Automatic and is entirely Swiss Made. The movement has a date function with the date window at the 3 o'clock position on the dial.
Traser has added an "under the sapphire glass" compass bezel controlled by an external crown at the 8 o'clock position. A watch compass bezel allows the wearer to use the relative position of the sun compared to the hour hand to determine direction. The technology here is, quite literally, as old as time. While other watches have had compass bezels, Traser has embraced the technology here and provides detailed and illustrated instructions on its use with the watch.
As always with Traser the key is the use of multiple illumination technologies to create a watch that at dusk and through the night makes the watch a joy to see and to own. Tritium tubes are used on all three hands and on all 12 hour indices for permanent illumination. They then add Super Luminova paint to the numbers and the compass bezel to create a wonderland of illumination. You can see the result at the top of this page.
The Traser P68 Pathfinder Automatic is available for order now on the Time 4 Tritium Website which also has a wealth of additional pictures in information about the watch, including fiull specifications. Be sure to check out the slideshow on the Time 4 Tritium home page. It takes a few seconds to load but is well worth the await!

Tritium Lights No bigger than the Size of a Hair
The world leader in the technology of Tritium illumination, H3 mb-microtec, the Swiss parent of Traser watches, has now emerged as a leading Swiss technology designer with ground breaking, innovative, highly functional designs. Because H3 mb-microtec is the world's only designer and manufacturer of tritium gas tubes, their watch division, Traser, gets the new technology first.
This new technology has been named Trigalight® HairLight Tritium because it is so incredibly thin. The outer glass tubes are about the thickness of five human hairs, and the actual inner glowing gas is only about the thickness of a single hair!
So far Traser has introduced two models that use the HairLight Tritium tubes and both are pictured at the top of the page. First is the Traser T5 Aurora Chronograph that uses the super thin Hairlight to illuminate the chronograph subdials. A custom sapphire crystal provides perfect visibility of the detail possible with the new tubes. There has never been a watch this stunning after dark!
The second watch to employ this technology is the Traser Aurora GMT Pilot's Watch. The P59 Aurora GMT is a true dual time zone, 24 hour timepiece with a fourth hand to easily indicate 24 hour time for any time zone you desire. The dial is crisp and easy to read in daylight and is great looking, too. Once again the key to this design is the super thin HairLight Tritium that allows illumination of not only the 24 hour hand, but also all 24 hour markers. There is Tritium Illumination on all 12 hour markers and on ALL HANDS.

Citizen Blue Angels World Chronograph A-T
We are pleased to introduce the all new Citizen's Blue Angels World Chronograph A-T! The next evolution in World A-T watches comes to the Blue Angels series in a big way. The World Chronograph A-T series of watches by Citizen is the all analog chrono A-T movement. This means that the traditional digital windows have been thrown out in favor of a more sophisticated look. Cleaner lines hide the amazing technology lying beneath it's more traditional looking face. Underneath beats the heart of one of Citizen's most advanced timepieces.
The World Chronograph A-T is the latest in Citizen's Atomic Timekeeping series (hence the A-T moniker). This means that this watch is capable of receiving the atomic signal and setting itself in 26 different timezones across the world. Not only that but it also has a 1/20 second chronograph for timekeeping, perpetual calendar, 12/24 hour time dial, power-reserve indicator, E6B slide-rule inner bezel and a anti-reflective sapphire crystal! All of that is packed into a sleek and sexy design that looks at home as much on the golf course as it does in the cockpit.
And it doesn't stop there. There are the little things too. Like the signature yellow strip that runs along the bezel tying in the accent color of the dials and second hand. The fit and finish of the bracelet and the blue accent strips that line each button. Each inch of this watch have been given the extra care it deserves. It's a truly remarkable timepiece that needs to be seen to be appreciated.
This amazing watch is currently available in two trims. One with a solid stainless steel bracelet (model AT8020-54L) and one with a blue leather strap (model AT8020-03L). You can check out more features and info by visiting us on one of our retail sites: Gem of the Day or TopFlight Watches.

Traser P6600 Sand Collection
The new P6600 Sand is also the latest in a long line of top notch military watches featuring a lightweight double case construction, with an all steel case housed in a lightweight carbon-fiberglass outer shell. This design allows for a true screw down crown and case back, superior water resistance and overall durability.
Of course the new Traser P6600 Sand Watch has Traser's famed Trigalight(r) Illumination system, providing the best readability in all lighting situations.
But what sets this series apart is the new color design AND the inclusion of a Sapphire Crystal. That's right, this is the only collection in the series (apart from the P6600 Automatic for nearly twice the price) to come with a Sapphire Crystal. So when you combine the legendary durability and performance of the P6600 Type 6 with all new "Sand" design AND a Sapphire Crystal you get a truly special collection. One that is on our short list of watches to keep an eye on. This one is going to be HOT!
Check out more details, pics, prices and specs by visiting us at Time 4 Tritium and TopFlight Watches.

Sapphire Crystals on the Rise
A sapphire crystal probably one of my favorite features you can put on a watch. It's just nice to have and one of the things I look for when I am considering buying a watch. Why? Because sapphire is the 3rd hardest mineral on the planet and make the crystal virtually scratchproof. This is a pretty big deal in the long term of owning watches. I mean if you collect watches, chances are you are going to have them for quite some time. And if you are like me you probably wear them a good bit. (I don't baby my watches. If I put a watch on, I wear it.) In doing so, I put a good bit of wear on my watches and anyone who has had either a plastic or glass crystals can tell you, they will get scratched up over time. Sapphire crystals won't.
So, why doesn't everyone use sapphire crystals in all their watches? The cost. Sapphire crystals are expensive (at least comparatively to glass and plastic) so you don't see them in most of the lower end brands. High end brands will feature sapphire crystals in almost every model (brands like Tag, Rolex, Omega, etc...). Low end brands like to use plastic to keep the cost down and the brands that take up the large portion of the middle area usually have a mix of crystals depending on the price or the watch.
Fortunately, sapphire crystals are on the rise these days. More and more companies are offering sapphire crystals on more of their watch collections. Take Citizen for example. Citizen is a great watch brand with a mix of sapphire and glass crystals depending on the price and model watch. Entry level watches are usually glass and the flagship watches are starting to be offered in sapphire. This is a new move for Citizen and frankly a welcome one. I love Citizen watches. I think the quality for the price is one of the best at any price. The Eco-Drive technology is fantastic too. I have been watching Citizen add more and more sapphire crystal watches over the years and I think it's the right move. I mean, some of these Citizen watches are so nice and so well made that they deserve to have sapphire crystals.
A few years ago Citizen had almost no models in their line up with sapphire crystals but today you can find them sprinkled throughout. Take the Firenza Collection for example. This is a new series of watches from Citizen. 5 years ago, this collection would never have been offered with a sapphire crystal. In fact, the Firenza collection is actually a remake of an older series of watches. It was offered around 10 years ago and they were offered with glass crystals. This new collection is a reboot of the series with all the benefits of Citizen's new outlook. The result is a great looking watch (EP5970-57A) that is well built, superbly finished with both Eco-Drive AND a sapphire crystal. It doesn't hardly get any better than that.
Moving forward I hope to see even more. Citizen is on the right path and Seiko is too. With more and more companies adding sapphire crystals to the line up the future of the watch industry is looking better and better every day.

Traser Big Date Chronograph
The Watch Guys are proud to present the Tracer Big Date Chrongraph Series. This is not the newest series available from Traser but it is one of my favorites. The BIG DATE CHRONOGRAPH has the classic styling of the legendary Traser H3 Military Watches, but with the newest Swiss Made, Jeweled, Chronograph quartz movement. As you can see in the photograph above, the new Chronographs feature full dial tritium illumination from H3 mb-microtec. This means that you can easily see the watch day and night in any condition. These watches are available in four different options, two in lightweight Titanium and two in Black PVD. Each with either a traditional Green Tritium or the newer Blue Tritium variants.
Worldwide, people who know about tritium illumination watches know that the Traser is the "real deal." Traser H3 by mb-microtec was the first military timepiece ever to be equipped with the patented tritium H3 permanent light technology. And the H3 mb-microtec models were actually the first to be issued to the men and women of the US Armed Forces. Today they are still the world standard and are the watches made for NATO armed forces.
The Big Date Chronograph Series is one of the best watches available from Traser today. Solid Stainless Steel (or Titanium) construction, 100 Meters Water Resistant and a Sapphire Crystal are just some of the amazing features this watch has to offer. It's a beautiful and well made timepiece that anyone would be proud to own and it won't break the bank. One of my favorite features of the Traser brand is that they are reasonably priced. And by comparison with other brands they are practically a steal. You don't have to sacrifice any quality and can save hundreds of dollars!

Tutima Grand Classic Black Chronograph PR
Tutima Grand Classic Black Chronograph PR
The new Tutima Grand Classic Black Chronograph Power Reserve with the Red Dial is one of the most dramatic timepieces ever created. It will be noticed immediately and will set you apart with its stunning design. It is one of the most handsome watches we've ever offered from any designer or manufacturer. A watch this extraordinary can only come from the designers of Tutima in Glashette, Germany.
The exhibition Back of the 781 Series of Grand Classic Chronographs The new Grand Classic Black Chronograph PR can cope with anything that comes its way, thanks to the use of cutting-edge technology. The case and bracelet have a black coating which is largely resistant to shocks and scratches using a unique process designed by Tutima's German engineers. To begin with, the stainless steel itself undergoes a special process to harden it far below the surface layer. It is then given a coating of ultra-hard PVD coating (physical vapor deposition) in midnight black as extra protection.
The dial is also painstakingly designed to provide a clarity of the instrumentation including a rare power reserve display designed to make this chronograph the perfect companion for turbulent times. The Power Reserve instantly shown the remaining power stored in the mainspring. If the power reserve should start to dwindle, all it takes is a few shakes of the wrist and the Automatic Swiss selfwinding Valjoux 7750 movement produces new energy.
Gem of the Day is pleased to offer this and many other Tutima Grand Classic models. Call us TOLL FREE at 1 (888) 243-6329 to discuss our very competitive prices and all the options in the extensive Grand Classic Collection.

Wenger GST Diver

There is no denying that the all new Wenger GST Diver has startling good looks. The all black design is stunning and the attention to detail is top notch. From the Black PVD Stainless Steel Case, to the polished Black patterned dial, to the rugged and heavy all black rubber dive strap, this is one great looking watch. It's the little things that make the difference in a watch like this. Like the multi-level patterned dial and just the right amount of orange accents to set it all off with a prefect balance of good looks and supreme readability.
But it's not just good looks that makes the Wenger GST Diver one of our most highly recommended professional quality dive watches. The watch is made to the toughest Swiss standards for all dive watches. The case is 316 Grade Surgical Stainless Steel. It has both a screw down case back and a screw down crown. The crystal is virtually scratchproof Sapphire glass and the watch is depth tested to 300 meters or 1,000 feet below seal level!
The high contrast white hands and markers make this one of the easiest to read watches we've ever offered, even deep below the surface. The unidirectional diver's bezel has orange markers for measuring air tank reserves and the watch features a date function with the window at the 6 o'clock position.
This watch really is stunning to look at. You really need to see it in person to understand what I am getting at with this blog entry. Sometimes a watch ends up being more than just the sum of its parts. This is one of those times. This is really a great watch at a very affordable price. If you get a chance I highly recommend you check one out in person.

The Luminox Recon, Point Man

Well, we are once again excited about a Luminox product. Surprising I know, but Luminox is just one of those products that once you try it, you have to have it. The Tritium illumination is the key, but the watches are also a nice quality and Swiss Made. Fortunately the company is also growing and that means we keep getting new styles. Below is one of the newest styles just released for 2011.
The Recon Series is the newest series available from Luminox and the first watch available is the 'Point Man'. This series is very different from most of the other Luminox watches available today. While the overall style and build are similar to the Colormark Series, the function and illumination are completely unique.
You see the 'Point Man' is a watch designed for the ground solider and out door adventurer. And it's built with features that are actually useful for those out and about. The first and most important unique feature is the Walking Tachometer. This feature is rarely found on any watch and allows you to judge exactly what speed you are walking. this is handy for real field situations where you need to determine how far something is, how far you have traveled and how long it will take to get where you are going. Combined with this feature is the sun-compass functionality and bezel for timing. The watch even has a countdown quadrant of the dial that can be used to time maneuvers. Very cool stuff.
Plus you also get a great looking watch once the sun goes down. Take a look at the night illumination (pictured below). Very stylish blue and orange tritium light the way and still allow the watch to be used for timing maneuvers at night. Not to mention that is also striking to the casual observer.
All in all, I am very excited about this watch. It is always nice to see someone do something different. For more information and to order online, please visit us at Time 4 Tritium.

Citizen World Perpetual AT

Ok, now I have to admit that we are a little excited about this one. The Watch Guys are truly pleased to present the newest Citizen Atomic Timekeeping model, the World Perpetual AT. Now as you may know Citizen has been making Eco-Drive watches with their 'AT' (atomic time) feature for a few years now. It all started with the Skyhawk AT and blossomed from there. To the point now were several series offer this truly wonderful feature. In fact, combined with the Eco-Drive feature it makes for one of the best watches available today. I mean come on... no battery to replace, no need to adjust the time and no need to adjust the date! Can it get any better? Well, in fact it can and it has with the all new World Perpetual AT.
First off is the overall design. It is much simpler than the other watches Citizen is designing with the same technology. The World Perpetual has the general appearance of a standard 3-hand watch. No overly complicated sub-dials, no e6b slide-rule nonsense, just a clean sleek and professional looking watch but still packed with the best features. We are talking World Time with 26 different cities pre-programmed, Eco-Drive, Perpetual Calendar, 200 Meter Water Resistance, Atomic Timekeeping, Solid Stainless Steel or Titanium cases and perhaps one of the best features rarely found on a Citizen watch... a Genuine Sapphire Crystal. That's right, you can't even get that on the flagship Skyhawk model.
So it looks good and also redefines atomic timekeeping with radio controlled accuracy in the USA, Europe, Japan and China where radio signals are received both automatically and on demand. You never have to change a battery or set the time ever again, even for DST (daylight savings time)! The watch will actually set itself. Wake up the next morning to find your watch has already adjusted the time properly. You really can't ask for more.
This particular version is available in two varieties, Stainless Steel or Titanium (CB0020-50E and CB0030-56E respectively). Unfortunately, Citizen has a "no internet" sale policy on this watch so you can't buy it from one of our websites. Fortunately, you can call us up and order it directly over the phone. So for more information and to order one for yourself please call us Toll Free at 1-888-243-6329.

Then encases this movement within a beautifully crafted retro design stainless steel case. the case itself is wonderfully designed and finished out beautifully from top to bottom. Worlds 1st Full Tritium 24 Hour Watch!

Virtually every other watch on earth tells time in a conventional 12 hour dial and the hour hand revolves around the dial once every 12 hours. In this new H3 Tactical Stealth Mission Watch, the hour hand only travels around the dial once every 24 hours! For pilots traveling day and night across many time zones, this design is extremely desirable. At a glance the pilot knows the time in the military 24 hour format.
Military personnel all also use the 24 hour time format to insure there are never any mistakes about the time for precision military operations. Likewise, this format is indispensable for people working under extreme conditions where it might be impossible to tell day from night, underground construction workers or miners, for example.
While only a very few of these 24 hour dial watches even exist, none has ever been made before with full Tritium Illumination. All 24 hour makers are tritium powered, as are the hour, minute and second hands. This means an amazing 27 tritium tubes are used to illuminate the watch dial. The H3 Tactical Stealth Mission Watch is made entirely of surgical stainless steel. The crystal is virtually scratch proof sapphire glass. The Swiss Made Jeweled Quartz Movement is extremely accurate and durable. And the Watch is depth tested to 333 feet (100 meters) below sea level. All in all this is a great series of watches. Available in three different styles: All Stainless Steel Case and Bracelet, All PVD Case and Bracelet and a PVD model with a Rubber Dive Strap. For more information, pictures and details head over to any of our other sites: Gem of the Day, Time4Tritium or TopflightWatches.
