Atacama Field Series by Luminox

New Steel Colormark by Luminox

Many of our readers fondly remember and often request the old original Luminox Navy Seals Carbon Fiber Watches. These were the original steel Luminox watches and they were "tough as nails," durable and reliable. And perhaps more importantly less expencive then the to of the line steel watches. The Watch Guys are pleased to present the new Luminox Series 1500 Deep Dive Automatic Watches. Our first look into some of the new watches coming out this Fall from some of our favorite brands. So let's get right to it...

The Deep Diver is limited to a strict 500 pieces worldwide, with very few even to be offered for sale within the United States. The Luminox Deep Diver Automatic is one of the finest watches Luminox has ever created and each watch is individually numbered.

The Deep Dive Series complies with the strict, high standards of the Norm International Standards Organization ISO 6425 for diving watches and even exceeds those standards for visibility in darkness. Of course that's not much of a surprise to those familiar with Luminox.

You see Luminox uses Tritium for the illumination and it is by far the most important feature on any of their watches. The Deep Diver Series 1500 delivers unmatched visibility underwater with ice blue and bright green Luminox Light Technology (LLT) Tritium Gas encased in tiny glass tubes that glow brightly and continuously for up to 25 years.

Notice in the photograph how the unique use of blue and green Tritium lights creates an unusually easy-to-read dial, even in dark, deep waters. and you do not need to "push a button" to read the time perfectly. The special design of the Deep Diver Automatic contains custom gaskets, a screw-down crown and case back, an extra-thick sapphire crystal, and an integrated polyurethane rubber dive strap with wet suit polyurethane extension dive strap.

And to top it all off, each Deep Diver Automatic comes in a special water-resistant box which can be used to safely store a mobile phone, camera, or other personal valuables on the rough sea.

Walking a Fine Line: Luminox Battle for Positioning

Over the next few days both Zak (The Watch Guy) and I will be introducing several new Luminox Watches that will be available in extremely limited quantities before Christmas this year. Although almost all of these watches were introduced at the International Watch Fair in Basil, Switzerland in the early Spring, only a select few are making their way onto our shores late this fall. The world wide recession and especially the recession here in the United States are part of the reason for this delay, but Luminox own quest for its position in the marketplace also plays a major roll.

Luminox, as a brand, is torn between their heritage in the United States as a hunting ~ military - law enforcement brand and their Swiss manufacturing heritage as one of the world's finest watches.

Luminox's primary distribution avenue in the U.S. is still hunting and sporting goods stores. These dealers are the folks who brought Luminox to the attention of customers. And it was these dealers who made the original Series I and Series II Navy Seals Dive Watches one of the best selling and most highly regarded watches among law enforcement, sporting enthusiast and military customers in the world.
